Land of the Monks (New Athos)
Documentary
Synopsis:
The proximity of military actions makes the monks of the Holy Mount in Greece seek a new location for their monastery. After a long search, the choice falls on the ancient capital of Abkhazia, Anakopiya, home of the kings of the Abkhaz and the place where apostle Simon the Zealot found his refuge. The outward similarity of the New and Old Athos is amazing, but the main thing is that the monks have managed to bring the spirit of the Holy Mountain here, to Psyrtskha.
